Not Silicon Valley snobbery at all - the culture for working long hours in the Valley is pervasive and quite well known.

That's not necessarily a negative for East Coast engineers.

For example, if an East Coast engineer has more experience than a West Coast engineer on a particular area because they rotate jobs less, maybe they don't have to work as many hours as the West Coast engineer to produce the same thing. So, my comment is about the culture of Silicon Valley working longer hours, not necessarily about productivity. Your post was about hours, not productivity.
