And a lot of the payback is coming off the backs of the middle class. The Alternative Minimum Tax was established to get money from those earning over a hundred thousand..

Somehow it got lowered so that taxes are payable on income for things like property tax and by the lower income Americans.... Congress was supposed to act on this this year and revise the error. However, it is bringing in so much revenue.... that it is being ignored. A tax that was enacted unfairly and now ignore because it is producing a lot of revenue. UNFAIR ?

Courtesy 60 Minutes...

Check your income tax return. See how much AMT you are paying. AND it comes off your Social Security into which you paid for years out of a salary.

Gross inequities.... The wealthy can hide money in overseas accounts... tax shelters that require high paid lawyers to secure.

What is happening to America..

As an aside. I saw a play yesterday called the Bully Pulpit.
It was a one man play on Theodore Roosevelt. IT was one of the best plays that I have ever seen and I have seen a lot.

Michael O. Smith starred in it. Teddy had his faults and he admitted them but what a lot of history he took the audience through in two hours.. On the stage at Sagamore Hill all by himself. Two hours of History..from his birth until his 60th birthday which is what he is celebrating...

He had four sons on WW I... Three wounded and one.. the baby killed. Quentin.. Since I am concurrently reading TILL THE LAST MAN about WW I. It really tied in splendidly..

He made one proud to be an American. I was in tears at the end of the performance. Haven't had an actor move me like that in a long time. However, I high recommend THE BULLY PULPIT to anyone who wants to remember what it was once like to feel the pride that it is to be an American.
