Bush is responsible. He inherited a surplus and balanced budget and has turned it into the largest deficit in history. He got warnings about 9-11 type attacks on 8-6 and ignored them. His Iraq War was purely voluntary and not based on any pressing need. He lied to us about it and pushed us into war. His pandering to the oil lobby, pollutors, religious right and other noxious interests is all voluntary. And he should stop his smear and fear campaigns and cheating and lying. Even if that brings victory for him, it's a defeat for the American people and democracy itself.
