It was interesting how religion got involved with abolition. There was that book a while back you read, and I started to read... name escapes me now, but it was a very strange and unstable mix of causes and philosophical views that converged to produce the abolition movement. This book focused on the development of philosophical thought in New England, philosophy, by philosophy.
