I had dinner last week with an Hispanic family who, as it happens, gave a lot of material support to victims of the Sandinistas during that era. One of the things that doesn't get brought up much is that they, like the Marxists who took over Mexico and Cuba, were virulently anti-cleric, and killed priests and nuns and others involved with the Catholic Church.

This couple, who are Evangelical, nevertheless took in a number of religious workers who had been wounded and come to the US for surgery.

I expect the hard left, the radical Marxists, to gloss over this, but I expect the typical American Leftist, the Unitarian/Jimmy Carter types, to gag on it if its brought to their attention.

The hard left, if given the opportunity, will always spin these wars as corporatism running amok.

You, as a good capitalist, will always try to spin the virtues of capitalism, and I agree, but there's something human and compelling about killing nuns that grabs people by the gut.
