Hehe, my grandfather wished he had not drank all his homemade moonshine back when he lost his farm in the great depression. Instead of drinking a bottle a week - if he had just drank a half bottle a week and saved the other half - he would have had plenty of product to barter with and saved his farm. One year the crops didn't perform and he didn't have any insurance to protect himself and none of his richer family or friends would give him a break so he got the boot.

His daughter, my aunt, married a guy with a big farm, over 400 acres - he sold the farm away over the years to support his drinking and partying - when he died his 4 sons - my cousins - had 4 acres between them - 2 of them are in the military right now getting that gubbment check and were not depending on thier inheritance. They are both in iraq making big bucks - 1 son is a truck driver who got laid off 6 months ago and replaced by an illegal mexican truck driver - and the 4th son lives on the 4 acre farm with momma.

Like you Patron grandpa was a believer in gold, he had a few coins he left his kids, he just couldn't make it or use it, but he could make moonshine so that is where his time went.
