The only reason for keeping Cardinal Law in the forefront is to show forgiveness, but I think there are better ways of showing forgiveness. He presided over one of the the worst scandals in church history, at best looking the other way while terrible crimes were committed. It has caused a tremendous blow to faith throughout the entire country, including me.

I did not raise my sons in the Church because I did not want them around pedophile priests. This all started coming out decades ago and I could see it was being swept under the rug. Some of the earliest people to fight it were lawyers in Louisiana and the Church circled the ranks and shot the messengers.

One of the greatest strengths of the Church, the well-oiled structure that works like clockwork, turned out to be one of the greatest weaknesses. And another great strength of the Church, that of forgiveness for sins because we are all sinners, has been exploited by these priests and the administrators who covered up for them.

There are plenty of masses every day, I would not go to one said by Cardinal Law, either.
