That's what the GOP would want you to believe. but the fact is that they would have done that to him regardless of his approach to the campaign. The swift boat liars were a well supported GOP smear campaign with roots deep into bush's closest aides ... don't forget what these people did to McCain in South Carolina and Georgia.
