First time since like 1984, which was soon after Vietnam, no? And if I recall correctly, it was a very similar situation then, too.

He "exploited" his own record. Usually the term is used in reference to someone else.......for an example, he "exploited" her good name for his benefit.

Literally it means "to make use of meanly to one's own advantage"? Please explain the meanly part to me in terms of Kerry's campaign?
