Brian, looks like it happened in 1996. The market began an uptrend at the beginning of 1995. Although there was some profit taking the SOX formed an important bottom in the summer of 1996 while the rest of the market remained in an uptrend.

Thanks for making me run these charts! I have no specific numbers projecting market bottom numbers at this time. I generally run long term charts and look for levels of support as potential buy zones. Looking at AMAT or the SOX itself I would expect that the low price put in at the bottom of this cycle will indeed be higher than the low price last cycle.
