Yes, there is your view, which is the Orwellian one and there is another view which is that this country is still largely run by well-meaning people. I agree there are some bad apples very near the top, but your conspiracy theory is a little extreme.

The thing is that neither of us has to really debate this issue. If we still have 140K troops in Iraq by the end of 2006, then I'd be inclined to agree with you that we have no intention of leaving.

However, the Iraqi people and the leadership have now voiced their opinion loud and clear that they expect a major drawdown of U.S. troops by 2006. I believe it will happen. You don't. Let's just wait and see.
