Thanks for that interesting response Olivier. I wasn't aware that there was software being used that makes up names for message boards. I guess that would explain the hundreds of names on Yahoo and the spam on RB. I've pretty much stopped posting or reading those boards.

But apparently, there still is an industry of paid bashers and touts that believe that they can affect the price of thinly traded stock.

>>Now that is a very interesting case. A CEO of an AMEX-traded company going after not just the principals of the site but also all aliases involved in publishing false, misleading and/or defamatory statements and claims regarding the company.

That was an "advisory" service. Where do "aliases" fit in?

>>Maybe the aliases involve the principals themselves making the posts, deceiving the public by posing as a large number of "satisfied and successful clients," just like Berber, Moor and Rea here at SI and at the IA sites?

That would seem to imply that you are referring the principals of an advisory service (such as AI) using the name/alias of an analyst, a la' "SkiBum" - yes? How does that translate to "...here at SI..."? There are so many differences between an comments made on an advisory service versus a message board that it's... well, like comparing apples and orangutans.
