Peaceful and pastoral, really. There was enough of a break in heavy rainstorms so that we ran into the tulip fields and really enjoyed all the colors and varieties. Mr. Grainne, who thoughtfully brought the car around so we did not have to swim back to it, can eat a $5.00 bag of kettle corn in record time! Even in a tiny little town, Spaten beer by the pitcher is $11.00! I did not realize that until my family had consumed several (my brother was with us, and Grainnette is 21 now). There was a huge mountain right in front of us, and yet I had to tell everyone about it because it could not be seen in the bad weather, even from the vantage point of the monastery, sitting high on a hill with stunning 360 degree views. The monastery's atmosphere was meditative. Everyone started craving fudge and fruitcake, two typical monastery products, at least in my neighborhood. Now I have to go buy a candy thermometer and make some vegan fudge for all of them. I hope it tastes good!

Oh, this is funny! I was watching a country band at a VFW hall this weekend (they had freedom fries on the menu), and I got carded! I am sure that is the very last time that will happen, as I am well into my dotage now.
