There are always rumors on both sides. Flash env is not good, but CPG env (per both AMD and Intel) is good, IMO.

But what matters with Flash is not revenues, but how well AMD contained losses.

" So what is the source of upside that you see? "

The high level of skepticism around AMD's performance (unsupported when one looks at AMD's superior product lineup) is about to be punctured by:

1. Q1 CPG revenues above consensus.

2. CPG operating profit increase owing to 90nm product.

3. Flash not as bad as many are calling for, wishing even.

4. "Other" loss may have begun its decline from $30M in Q4 to $0M by year's end.

5. Consequently a Q1 eps well above the $0.02 consensus.

6. Positive process and fab 36 developments.

7. CC has to be upbeat as it is fairly obvious to management that the earnings expansion phase will have begin resulting in very positive guidance especially for Q3 and Q4 where eps has potential to eclipse $0.30 and $0.40 respectively if flash begins to strengthen (i.e. net $0M operating profit for Q3 +Q4).
