I think the bond and ED rally is primarily a spec and hedge fund short squeeze. One of the difficulties of getting downside action in the stock market are the big short positions as well. Just overtrading in about everything, by both bulls and bears. Take TOL for example:
finance.yahoo.com

Bought a fifth block in ANO this AM at .86, and half a position in OZN (back in from 1.44 sale) at 1.16.

Overall market action has been pretty ugly for a long time except for that nice November-December monster rally. We all know it will be ugly this summer heading into the fall. Market also starts discounting unknown of life without Greenspan starting in July. Perhaps we get an explosive upside move here lasting for much of the quarter. Homebuilders seem poised for another move up + long term rates creeping down again along with lower oil prices add fuel to the fire.
