They can announce Rev E for the desktop, SSE3, and a new "line" of 1MB L2 parts: 4000+, 3700+, 3500+

They couldn't hype it before without impacting sales of non-Rev E stuff.

Now that everything is on Rev E, they can go ahead with PR.

And there's the Sempron 3300+, as well...maybe on the same day.

storm05,

San Diego looks to be an unlikely candidate for an NDA, especially with Opteron 252 shipping since last month. What are they going to announce, that they finally ship 90nm up to the speed of 130nm, but with SSE3? A stepping change?

I don't know if there would be an announcement. Anand just mentioned NDA. As far as testing, I think A64 4000 Rev CG vs. Rev E would make interesting enough review, but there may be more, if you check out Reseller Mike's post here:

These are of interest:

Athlon 64 3500+ S939 90nm BI (2.2, 512, D Winchester - old)
Athlon 64 3500+ S939 90nm BN (2.0, 1.0, E San Diego)
Athlon 64 3500+ S939 90nm BP (2.2, 512, E Venice)
Athlon 64 3700+ S939 90nm BN (2.2, 1.0, E San Diego)
Athlon 64 3800+ S939 90nm BP (2.4, 512, E Venice)
Athlon 64 4000+ S939 90nm BN (2.4, 1.0, E San Diego)
Athlon FX-55 S939 90nm BN (2.6, 1.0, E San Diego)

(eracer's take of what these parts may be). That's plenty to test, if you asked me. Those lower clock San Diego parts (if that's what they are) will be very popular, IMO.
