Your comments lead me to think that you agree that a cost of $250 on a new car costing $20-40K is peanuts. That was my point.

I gave all my kids tire valves for xmas as a safety grab bag. I'm one of those people who are not as attentive to tire pressure as they should be. The reason is that I've bought probably a dozen pressure gauges over the years and none has ever worked well for long so I just got out of the habit. The ones you suggest seem worth a try. Thanks for the suggestion.

The gas stations I frequent don't even have air pumps for the public. But they do sell tires. ;^)

tires should be checked monthly No doubt. An automatic tire pressure check would be nice to have on a car. But should the national nannies be allowed to make in mandatory? No. Just another example of bureaucrats with waaay to much time on their hands.

I finally got some of those pressure indicator valve caps a few months ago. Had a hard time finding them as several stores were out. I had mentioned them to a friend who shopped for them yesterday and, when she couldn't find them on the shelf, asked about them and discovered that they had been recalled. I don't know if this is the brand you've been distributing, but here's the recall notice just in case. classactionamerica.com The fellow at the store told my friend that the new ones would be available in a few months.
