Nonrev, Apology accepted and I promise you that I sent you no private message. What was the message about? Anyway, this is a fine place to lurk; many first rate writers post here. This has never been an "all stocks all the time" sort of forum but there are plenty of those elsewhere on SI. The political discourse can be useless and I think one reason people are so wound up about it is that no one, left or right alike really feels that they are being well served by those in power. Many of the issues, ie. abortion or the gay stuff for just a pair of examples, are talked up by the agitators on both sides in an effort to engage the country and distract the people so that the actions of politicians of both sides are not noticed.
