Just an observation which may or may not be true, but it appears as though you want proof of healthy growth in the industry before buying AMAT or other companies. But if you wait until you see this time to buy, it will certainly be too late.

There are indeed some assumptions Cary is using that one must believe if they are to hold onto this sector. Surely one would not hold these stocks if they believed that the growth rate was fast approaching zero; my example is perhaps a tad hyperbolic, though in reality not too far from what we hear come out of WS firms regarding this sector.
