thanks. i never could get your solution to work. however, a friend figured out a simpler way:

placed Cursor on Column E grey area and clicked to get all E cells highlighted

placed Cursor on Insert and clicked

clicked on Hyperlink

within the pop-up window that opened up and showed list of various things, used the Downarrow to get to the File Name I wanted ( filename .xls )

Clicked OK

now every E cell/column should be clickable.
