Oracle in talks to buy Siebel: report

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Siebel Systems shares climbed 5% in premarket trade Friday, after a media report that Oracle Corp. is in talks to buy the company. The Daily Deal cited a source close to Oracle and analysts as saying that Oracle and Siebel began talks in the past week on a deal which could be worth up to $5 billion. "There have been substantive, high-level discussions" between the companies, said analyst Bert Hochfeld of Hochfeld Independent Research Group. The two companies declined to comment.
