Elroy,

Let's define terms here: I have a Wall St., Silicon Valley, High Tech and engineering bias, that is to say, I wan engineers to be well paid, WS market to boom and me to prosper.

You are somewhat correct in that this outsourcing of development by US corp.s will not persist in the long run. What I fear is that the MOST obvious resolution isn't that inefficient US corporations will be out-competed by efficient US companies, but by efficient Indian Companies.

Once they have learned how to take User Interface and architectual considerations into account, then the obvious next step is to bring Indian capital and Indian Marketing into the picture. Soon we will have given away the initiative, and the lead, and the US will be the importer of Indian High Tech.

This is good for India, maybe good for the world, but not good from my personal biased point of view (e.g. not good for WS, US Engineers, my retirement etc.)

Simple as that. This IS the Cisco thread, and Cisco stands a good chance of being hurt by this trend.
