[Damn China does, damn China doesn't. If Chinese gov. had controlled demonstrators, then the US would say they cracked the democracy. It is such a joke!]--

US chides China for not controlling demonstrators
Washington, Apr 13: China failed in its responsibility to protect the Japanese Embassy in Beijing from anti-Japanese demonstrators who attacked the mission, the State Department said.

"China does have a responsibility to prevent violence against foreign missions in Beijing," Spokesman Richard Boucher said yesterday. "We think that it's very regrettable that this one did turn violent and was not under control."

The demonstrators accused Japan of distorting its wartime past in new schoolbooks. They also said China should block Japan's bid to become a permanent member of the UN Security Council.

Boucher said he had no information to suggest that China deliberately allowed the demonstration to get out of hand.

He said the United States always has encouraged China and Japan to resolve their differences peacefully.
