The bill has some nasty bits in it. After some large exemptions, the inheritors will have to pay for appreciation, instead of taking at present value.

You're kidding me.

Inheriting at a stepped up basis has been a cornerstone of tax policy for a long time.

Do you know of a site where the details are set forth?

I planned on croaking at 89 when my QCOM stock would be worth about $20,000 a share. I'd hate to give my son the tax bill on the capital gains. vbg
