Well, you see, that's what I mean. No one has ever actually told me about selling a bullion coin and getting the money, and it does not sound as if you have done so yourself.

>>>Sell small lots to a number of coin dealers and put the checks in the bank slowly or cash 'em in for paper and stick it in a box and add it to your account slowly, or be a good citizen and pay taxes<<<

Which coin dealer at what address, and what kind of paperwork did they require? How did they authenticate what you were selling? I would like to hear from a person who has in fact sold some bullion coins. Did you get a fair price? Was there a commission?

Safe deposit boxes are only safe if the bank has no other
keys. I know a case where someone left 30k of maples and
it was taken from the box. And they expect that you will
not complain as the funds may not have been reported as
income. I would not trust the bank employees. And it is
not safe at home either IMO.

Cash appearing in your accounts, even slowly, could cause
problems if audited.

Be a good citizen and make a bundle on gold stocks, and
give the bastards their 15% fair and square, won't hurt
a bit.

One friend of mine owned a cash business - check cashing title loans - put much of the money away in safe deposit box - when decided in 2002 that dollar was losing purchasing power - he wanted to take his many hundreds of thousands of dollars and put into something that would save his wealth - at the time bank wanted special paperwork for anything over 10K - now after bush and patriot act and terrorism bills bank wants him to fill out special forms for anything over 3K. Sad to say friend still holds lots of dollars - what should he do?
