Every family unplugs their terminal loved ones. Mine did, Delay's did, yours has or will. We all have to because we have machines now that keep people alive artificially when after they can't eat or breathe. This is when death is far preferable for all parties. Especially if consciousness is gone or the terminal patient is in pain.

This lady was braindead - BRAIN DEAD. Without the brain, we are just bodies. We are not conscious, though our bodies can feel and react to certain things.

The right to "life" people lied shamelessly through their noses when they were talking about her "fighting for her life" and "responding". And the whole thing was for political purposes, meant to divide the nation further and help Jeb, Delay and Santorum's power base and fundraising.

The rightwing hierarchy, including Delay and Bushes, thought using/abusing Schiavo was a neat way to galvanize conversatives. Instead, they showed us they are liars, hypocrites, phonies, irrational, unscientific and against real conservative principals and states rights.

By the way, if they really cared about "life" they'd do something about longterm heralth care for the poor. But just the opposite. And the only reason Schiavo had 15 years of care was that her husband was able to use a trial lawyer to sue a doctor for malpractice. Another thing the rightwing tells us is wrong. Delay did it too though, so again, the hypocrisy is enormous.

What ONE JUDGE? There were 17 of them if memory serves. That doesn't include the Supremes.

Terri Schiavo (can't you get this through your skull?) was not a minor who was controlled by her parents. She was an adult, married and with a will of her own.

The entire process was to try and determine, as well as they could, what HER wishes would be. Would a bulimic woman, proud of her looks, want to live like that for the next half century and beyond? Would you?

Who would? Who would want to lie in bed and have a succession of strangers feed you, bathe you and do all kinds of intimate things to you while you had no cognitive ability whatsoever?

It was determined that her husband knew what her wishes were while her parents did not. THAT was the decision...what HER wishes were. What her parents wanted was immaterial because it was Terri's life.

You and her parents would force Terri to live in a state that she wouldn't want to be in. That is cruel.
