Bush can't see beyond his nose. He doesn't care. He's a crackpot who is running from guilt and is insane right now. You would be too if u pushed as hard as him. And went through what he's been through.

Remember Bush = Karl Rove. Bush never does his own thinking. Cheney is also very influential of course. Rove and Cheney really run things, along with Delay. Three of the most corrupt leaders DC has ever known with their frontman GW.

The nuclear option is crucial for Bush/Rove as it's the easiest way to get the most extreme nominees on the bench before having to submit to another round of elections.

Dems trying to block 10 of Bush's extreme judges.
Republicans blocked 60 of Clinton's.

Rove/Bush do not care. They want one party rule. No compromises, no common ground. They aren't rational, they're out to kill and win at all costs and with zero concern for longterm consequences.

These are the people who blatantly lied to the world about Iraq and are currently blatantly trying to lie about Iran. They do not care and will see compromise as weakness. They aren't collegial, they aren't fair they are out to make their power PERMANENT.

Dems need 6 Republicans to cross over. They are close.

========================
"The Republican Party’s right wing has long recognized the role of federal courts in deciding public-interest and civil rights cases. For this constituency the judicial nominations process is a critical factor in determining how, and whether, they vote. In this presidential term, we also have witnessed the increasing involvement of another powerful Bush constituency—the business lobby, which is financing private-sector campaigns to confirm nominees. Like Ronald Reagan, Bush has used his judicial nominations to shore up his right-wing base and to increase fundraising. Republican strategist Karl Rove recently spoke about the need to invoke judicial nominees to reach and mobilize 4 million disaffected fundamentalist voters.

So determined is this president to demonstrate this commitment to remake the federal bench to his right-wing base that he has nominated numerous people lacking in legal distinction or experience—leading the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary to draw the line with some of the more flagrantly inexperienced and unqualified nominees.
