I was poking fun at the whole idea. Meant no offense but no one knows if anyone's Moniker is their true name, even if it looks legit.

Frank,

Maybe I sounded to critical with such a pointed reply, but to claim that nobody has ever posted under their given name is just plain silly on your part. You did not say people generally do not use their name. Maybe you should reread your own words.

Even though I am like another poster who admitted that he didn't really know (or bother to learn) about hiding one's identity, what the issue is for me is this. I don't really care if people know my name. You have never met me and don't know my address or state, etc. so you don't know enough about me to cause me real harm. What am I to fear?

It became obvious that many like to hide under assumed names, but SI has been a decent place to hang out and learn, overall. What is the big deal?

If I had posted something like that, I probably would have replied with a simple:

"Gee, that was a bit presumptuous of me. Sorry!"

I think we can go on to other topics. You have never been any sort of problem poster from my perspective, but I truly did mean what I said. I think you should just accept that as an honest response and forget it. It is no big deal to me.
