HAMMESFAHR: Yes<< That, of course, is only one man's opinion. But, as I mentioned to you, and even from my own limited experience, there is always a doubt. The outcome is always speculative. But my argument is that, while some, any, doubt existed about her condition and, indeed, doubt did exist, she should have been given the benefit of that doubt particularly in the circumstance that her future care would not have placed any demand on public resources or facilities. All she required was feeding and basic hygiene and that her parents were prepared to give as, indeed, many parents give brain damaged or retarded children. No medical "treatment" per se was necessary. There were no particular financial or practical considerations involved. In my opinion. this was a matter that did not concern the public, least of all the politicians -- and least of all religious freaks. But, of course, and in terms of the Catholic religion, while she was "alive" Michael could not have married his lady-friend. So there were cogent reasons why she had to be disposed of, reasons that were far more pressing than the remote chance she might "recover".
