It would be nice to have better and cheaper broadband. Many other things would be nice to. I'd rather the decisions about which of these nice things are bought or invested in be decided by the private sector rather than the government. Even if somehow a massive government investment in broadband would be a good thing (and that is very debateable itself) pushing further down the line of the government directing what gets invested in this country would be a bad thing. Just remember the people making the decisions aren't always going to be the people you agree with. Right now it would be Bush and the Republicans in congress. Do you really want to give them more power?
