I think you are letting your anti-bank attitude come through. There are all sorts of bankcards and rates. If you are dumb enough to misuse them, you won't be using them long.

Bank makes money off of 20% rates that more than offset deadbeats.

This is rare for me - to be in agreement with someone on this thread.

This is easy money for them. They make it off of people who can't afford it - a few thousand dollars at a time.

They lend money to people who don't need it. Big amounts. Easy come, easy go. Money comes easy to big time borrowers - if they lose a few hundred million - who cares - there is more where that came from. The big money lenders can write that stuff off. They can offset those losses with the money they make on bank cards.

I don't think we should be a nanny state, but Banks get chartered to do business - they virtually get a license to print money - they have to be more rigorous in the way they do business.
