So yes, estate taxes are a form of social engineering...

Yes, it is socialism pure and thanks for mentioning the baby by its right name.

If it works or not, I don't know. Look at the US society know for exorbitant estate taxation even over what you see in many countries of the old world. I still see the distance between they very rich and the poor larger than in Europe.

CJ, The fact of the matter is that without estate taxes, there is a tendency for more and more of the wealth to be concentrated in fewer and fewer hands.

The estate tax is the only line of defense against class stratification?

I guess education has nothing to do with it ...

"I believe estate tax is immoral because it taxes the share of funds"

I am not sure what morality has to do with it. The fact of the matter is that without estate taxes, there is a tendency for more and more of the wealth to be concentrated in fewer and fewer hands.

That is already happening here with an estate tax already in place.

The very rich work around the estate tax.

The main reason for increased income differentials are the fact that the economy is, and has been shifting in such a way that what highly skilled people can earn is much greater than what lower skilled people can earn and the difference is increasing. inheritance rules and taxes are a minor factor.
