The obvious first cut solution is to "degender" applications and see how they are rated by the reviewers.

There is research here on the gendered effect of applications. I noticed in Summers most recent speech he referred to it. Someone's been giving him an education.

As for the math/genetics argument, you will need to find the research which substantiates it. Summers didn't present it in his original talk, which was one more indication of its irresponsible character.

As for the "unwillingness of academia to even allow this subject to be discussed," good heavens, such appears in research literatures. But should not appear in university presidents' ever so public talks, particularly when it reinforces hiring and promotion discrimination.
