Think spectrums and pendelums. Reagan got the dereg right but maybe now we have gravitated too far in the other direction leaving too many folks unprotected. After all its a numbers game more than anything else. One credit abuser is not a problem for society. A society on credit with no means to pay it off can be disasterous. Folks use the liberal and conservative terms as some sort of litmus test. I consider myself a progressive (TR tradition) who wound up in bed with the Republicans at this time because the dems became the reactionary party, not liberal at all. And they still are imho but the cons are carving out a very narrow base and their success at being the only national party may be shortlived with the Christian right and other right wing ideologues creating the equivalent of loyalty oaths for others to abide by if they want to stay in the tent. Big mistake imo. I think we are headed for a third party as the two majors are more and more controlled by their extremes and more and more not open to open debate. mike
