The real question is one story in the Slate by a right winger gone to the New Republic does not make a story true. If the story had legs there's be far more that 527 hits on Google, with 99% of those links to hate sites.

I'm not defending Ritter, nor would I let him (or any adult) sleep with my children. But what I see here for poor Ritter is a rightwing attempt to discredit him because he had a different point of view than Bush. As it turns out, Ritter was right about the WMD. Ritter was dismayed about the effect of the sanctions on the poor people of Iraq too.

Neither of those stories ($400,000 or young girls) has any credibility so far.
