I agree with you. There are way too many variables in the horizon that can provide catalyst for a fall.

Bloated Real Estate
Bloated Financial Sector
Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, MBIA, GM's finance arm, AIG etc (these are biggies)
Oil expected to be staying higher than in the years past
Not to forget the last reason why stocks were going up - supposedly good earnings in last quarter. Are now preannouncing or reporting poor earnings.

Market will go down and then move sideways for some time.

LOL. I hope you are wrong. Everyone is going nuts, but my portfolio is only down 3% this year. I consider that pretty good. especially since I made 28% in 2003 and 10% last year.
