Notice how they don't need a referendum to see what people think. Just ask Yiwu and she'll tell you what Chinese think. If they think differently, like brian h, then they aren't Chinese and will be dealt with by "re-education" in Siberia. China is an old country, but they are new to modernity. The old guys that run the control are control freaks, just like in the old days. In the old days, nobody listened to the old control freaks. The Chinese just went on and did their own thing. It worked okay for them. Yiwu thinks its okay to be a control freak, the abstract version. That is why she lives in the United States. She does not want to be controlled. If she was living in China, Yiwu would be a big problem to the control freaks. They are not going to let her defend them. Anyhow, I am a huge optimist. I think they are pretty smart. It's even possible they could figure out things before we do.
