i think its more these people got called up... some never expected to be called up and had a good part time income. You are referring to reservists. The IRR folks do not train and are not paid. IRR is a limbo land military folks are thrown into for a coupla years prior to final discharge. It was created solely, as I said earlier, to provide a pool of manpower for national emergencies. No members of the IRR were called to active duty during the Vietnam war.
