Thank God for MK Ultra & Sandoz

A few years ago, when the Hog Farm was still sponsoring their own music festival, a friend called me up at the last minute, and wanted a ticket. It took a while, but I scored him one. Saw him once early on, then not again for hours.

Well, that was the year Leary made his final public appearance. Kesey had fixed up the bus, and a group drove down from Oregon. One of the tweener sets was Kesey and the Pranksters, in Wiz of Oz costume, standing on the bus singing something. ?Satisfaction?
Finally ran into my friend.
"Guess where I've been? Went over to the bus and did acid with Kesey and Leary."
Scene 2, Rat hauled off to jail for attempted murder.

Ah, the days of pure Blue Cheer from the labs at Berkeley, legal and safe, are long gone. The bad trips and flashbacks didn't start until LSD became a street drug, so MK-Ultra could be the culprit.
