Hi Lawrence,

Thanks for asking. The meeting with the staffer was a pleasant affair that I suspect accomplished very little. The staffer is not a decision-maker, obviously, and it is unclear what he might report up his chain of command to Rep. Walden. I regularly receive Walden's email letters and I'm continuously disappointed by his positions and the flimsy logic behind his votes which are invariably good for the corporate fat cats who fund his operations. In this, I suspect that there are millions of other Americans who feel that we have taxation with no representation today.

Walden, a Republican, constantly votes in opposition to my will. That's something I'm used to and can understand. What is harder for me to fathom is why he remains popular with the local citizenry, whose basic interests Walden really does not serve. Walden is the typical Republican, voting for whatever his campaign contributors tell him to vote on. There's only rhetoric about democracy left to this system of plutocracy any longer.

On only one issue I can think of in the recent past has Walden taken a position I liked. He opposed the continuation of the "Fee Demo" project which imposed fees on people parking their cars at Forest Service or BLM trailheads. In this matter, Walden never even got to use his power in the Congress. He was out-maneuvered by an Ohio Representative who inserted an even more odious and permanent fee system into the budget last fall. Walden was impotent to help the people of this region.
