I was just using some rough figures; I realize, of course, that 42 gallons of crude does not make 42 gallons of gasoline. But every increment of cost per gallon of gasoline at the pump certainly supports a higher jump in crude than we sometimes realize.

I was thinking how the marketing of gasoline has changed. The major oil companies must have vastly reduced advertising budgets compared to the past; it seems to me I seldom see any ads except those emphasizing some social or humanitarian awareness by the company. Years ago there must have been constant surpluses of gasoline and there certainly was continual advertising. How long has it been since we heard of putting a Tiger in your tank?
