Raymond, There is a very excellent book "By Bullet, Bomb and Dagger" that is a study of anarchists and terrorism, written years ago so unpolluted by any of the current propaganda. Now that I think about it I believe you are right; that the random bombing of innocents is something new in the world and that it did begin around 1950. It could be that there is a big "copy-cat" factor at work here and that this has spread around the world by immitation. In the Philippines both the communist NPA and several differnt factions of Muslim rebels are bombers. THe type of bomber that the book above describes is the 19th century European anarchist. And all that bombing they carried out really did change the world in that their efforts so despirited and terrorized the European monarchs and nobles that they targeted that it was a big factor in their demise. One thing about the bombing that goes on in Asia; the explosives to make the bombs are there everywhere and easy to obtain on the black market. The reason for the enormous black market there in explosives is that the stuff is used for illegal fishing. Yep, that right. Many "fishermen" in those over fished waters drop dynamite on the reefs and the fish come floating up. In Mindanao this type of fishing is called "boom" and the fish caught this way are called "boom fish" and don't bring as high a price as they have a bad taste. And this same dynamite is the stuff the mad bombers use. Slagle
