That's great! (I think??) "She has 5 pins in her toes with brightly colored balls on the end" OUCH! Don't play with her balls! :-) "The medication is controlling the pain. She'll be on crutches for about 6 weeks." I hope she has a speedy & complete recovery.

Do you have to turn the little pins periodically? My wife had surgery for a separated shoulder (the result of a particularly nasty bike accident). She had two pins that extended from the shoulder, and I was tasked with turning them daily. I still have those little suckers somewhere as a souvenir.
