And I don't think the argument is valid. What makes you think it's not valid? Years ago, I personally observed hospital admissions folks asking if the scheduled procedure was "therapeutic" or not and clearly conveying upon hearing the the wrong answer that the correct answer was "therapeutic," then recording it as therapeutic. I did not have a chance to observe what happened if the woman insisted that it was not since those that I observed quickly took the hint. From that I infer that there might well be a tendency to make a health of the mother claim even if the case for that were thin.
