Oh come on! Let's stay in reality.

Show me benchmarks and applications where non-HT Prescott 1MB at 2.8, 3.0 and 3.2 GHz beat A64s at 3500+, 3800+ and 4000+, let alone on average.

Now factor in that the Intel FSB is closer to being saturated in most of those benchmarks.

Now you have an idea of how the 830 and 840 will perform against the X2 lineup.

There is no "magic" that can be worked for those parts, even special Intel benchmarks. If there were, you'd have seen them with Prescott 1MB vs. A64.

The only part that admits Intel benchmark cheats that don't bear on reality is the 4-threaded EE.

In sum, as there have been no great complaints about AMD's PRs for 3500+, 3800+ and 4000+ vs. 5xx Prescott, the die is already cast about A64 X2 vs. 8xx non-EE Intel parts. In fact, due to Intel being closer to FSB max-out, it only gets better for AMD.

Smithfield 820 = 2800+ x 2 - FSB_factor
Smithfield 830 = 3000+ x 2 - FSB_factor
Smithfield 840 = 3200+ x 2 - FSB_factor

A64 X2 4400+ = 3500+ x 2
A64 X2 4600+ = 3800+ x 2
A64 X2 4800+ = 4000+ x 2

(N.B. I'm making an assumption here about the X2 4600+ and 4800+, there is an alternative.)

There's just no "magic" that can help Smithfield, benchmark or otherwise.

It all follows from the single-core ratings.

The only part with bogo-bench potential is the 840EE, and that will still lose to the X2 4400+ on all games, and most applications.
