elmer, I meant the Pentium D. Intel could offer DC desktop processors for the price of single core. Then it becomes a battle over capacity and you know who wins that one. AMD would have to discount the majority of their volume so heavily that ASPs sink like a rock.

Yes, they could do that, but so could AMD, if the market required it. It would just depend on what die size they wanted, the performance would still be there, and at better power consumption. They could make the L2 cache 256KB (2x128KB), 512KB (2x256KB), 1MB (2x512KB). So what exactly is the problem?
