As for Intel - anything you can think of, Intel has a design for it in the works. Plus ones you can't think of

roll time backwards 18-24 months, and say the same thing. now look into future and imagine dc opteron/athlon64. this exercise shows the fallacy of the above statement. a little humility goes a long way if one's ego lets one.

I don't know if Intel has even confirmed there is such a thing as Whitefield. As for AMD, they have far less resources so the number of future designs they can work on is limited. They're a one trick pony at this point. A good trick but only one, imo. As for Intel - anything you can think of, Intel has a design for it in the works. Plus ones you can't think of.

Yup. A few more Itaniums will definitely help Intel in competing with AMD and providing a high ROI to their shareholders. In fact, AMD's plan depend on Intel's shotgun-we-are-completely-confused-cannot-make-up-our-mind-as-what-to-do-is-anyone-really-in-charge-over-here approach!
