re: The Piemonte wines like Barbaresco and Barolo as well as all Chianti had a great vintage year 2001. But I would recommend to wait a few years drinking 2001 Barolos.

A '97, we had it way too young, it was huge. Lack of character and patience on our part. Happens all the time. Love good Chianti's, and you feel better about cutting their life short. Nothing like a big wine.
