That just demonstrates what an Alice in Wonderland world they've created with the tax system. I wish we could elect a leader willing to push for a truly flat tax on all income above an annually determined amount (i.e. poverty line), no deductions, perhaps supplemented by a very few targeted consumption taxes (e.g., gasoline tax, which should not be punitive, but just sufficient monies for highway development and maintenance), and finally, property taxes sufficient for local infrastructure such as schools (i.e., no lotteries).
