I have been having problems with my computer since I loaded the updates from last week:

1. The Windows Messenger Icon keeps loading in startup even though I keep going into msconfig and unchecking msmsgs and restarting the computer. It will not be there until I open Outlook Express, and then it reloads there. If I try to close it by right clicking and exiting I get this error message:
There are other applications currently using features provided by Windows Messenger. You must chose these other applications before you can exit Windows Messenger. These applications may include Outlook, Outlook Express, MSN Explorer and IE.

2. Everything has slowed tremendously since I installed the updates. I am fearful that I might have unintentionally installed service pack II. I did a Belarc Advisor and this is what it reads:

Does that SP2 reference mean that I installed SP2? If so, how do I remove it?
